Es gelangte zwischen 1852 und 1884 nach England in das Schloss Mentmore / Buckinghamshire. Bei einer dortigen Versteigerung 1977 wurde das Gemälde von der Landesregierung Rheinland-Pfalz erworben und zunächst bei der Landesbank Rheinland-Pfalz in Mainz und weiteren Stationen in Speyer, Homburg und Zweibrücken ausgestellt, 1980 kam es als Dauerleihgabe an das Schloss \"Villa Ludwigshöhe\" bei Edenkoben" ],
