Jh. abzulesen gesucht wird. Man kann sehen, daß seit dieser Zeit ein Fluß seinen Lauf verlegt haben muß, daß Sümpfe ausgetrocknet sind. Aufschlußreich sind vor allem der Größenunterschied der Sedesbezirke, der beträchtlich ist. Die kleinen Sedesbezirke liegen in Altsiedelgebiet, die großen umschließen weite Neulandgebiete. Bei der Schaffung der kirchlichen Verwaltungseinteilung hatte, ganz im Gegensatz zu der Praxis in späteren Zeiten, das geographische Relief des Landes keinen Einfluß auf die Wahl der Sedeshauptorte. Es fällt auf, daß viele dieser Orte als Herrensitze in spätmerowingischer Zeit nachzuweisen sind. So ist das Vorhandensein einer alten Kirche wohl der Hauptgrund für die Wahl gewesen.]" ],
