Im Spannungsfeld von Bewahren und Erneuern erfolgte sowohl die Sanierung des Kirchenbaus als auch eine liturgische Neugestaltung im Sinne des Zweiten Vatikanischen Konzils. Bis heute prägt die in diesem Zusammenhang neu konzipierte Altarinsel das Erscheinungsbild des Kirchenraums. Sie orientiert sich an der Gestalt des Vorgängerbaus aus dem späten 4. Jahrhundert." ],
